Welcome to another WHL Best of the 2010s feature where we profile the best WHL players from the 2009-10 season all the way to the 2019-20 season. With his five years in the WHL spread across three separate teams, Noah Gregor easily solidified himself as one of the most productive players in the East Division. Through 257 games with teams that included the Moose Jaw Warriors (164), Victoria Royals (30), and Prince Albert Raiders (63), Gregor notched 293 points (129 goals, 164 assists). Through all five seasons, Gregor only averaged under a point-per-game in his first season with Moose Jaw, one in which he only played ten games.
Consistency is key
The majority of Gregor’s time in the WHL was spent with the Moose Jaw Warriors — four-ish seasons, to be exact. In 164 games played from 2014-2018, he tallied a total of 176 points (71 goals, 93 assists). His time spent with the club led him to be a key contributor in two back-to-back playoff runs in both the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. Through both postseason appearances, Gregor recorded 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 17 games.
Gregor’s fourth year in the WHL only continued his steady growth that had been shown in seasons prior. The first half of his 2017-18 season was spent with Moose Jaw, where he recorded 36 points (14 goals, 22 assists) in 30 games. However, a trade with the Royals in early December sent him to Victoria, where he went on to tally 29 points (15 goals, 14 assists) in 30 games with the new club in the back half of the season. Putting up such points contributed to Victoria’s playoff berth, one where Gregor put up 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 11 games.
Going farther
The Edmonton-born’s final year in the WHL was spent with the Prince Albert Raiders after they acquired his rights in the offseason prior to the 2018-19 season. In fact, such an acquisition seemed to pay off for both sides, as it saw Gregor go on to notch 88 points (43 goals, 45 assists) in 63 regular season games. His work definitely paid off, as he led the charge alongside Brett Leason in Prince Albert’s Ed Chynoweth Cup win — a berth in which he recorded 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists) in 23 games. Following their championship, Gregor tallied five points (two goals, three assists) in three Memorial Cup games before getting knocked out in the round-robin tournament.
Making a case
Though his final seasons in the WHL were spent bouncing between teams, Noah Gregor remained steadfast in his production on the ice through both the regular season and postseason. Such consistent progression solidified himself as not only a reliable player for teams but also his spot on our WHL Best of the 2010s list.
