The QMJHL announced Friday that Mooseheads forward Zachary L’Heureux would be suspended indefinitely after an incident this past week following a matchup between the Halifax Mooseheads and the Gatineau Olympiques.

In short order after the loss, fans in the area alleged L’Heureux engaged in an altercation with a fan where he in turn speared the 16-year-old on his way to the visitor’s locker room.

The incident was confirmed when video evidence of the incident emerged on Twitter and quickly went viral, giving the QMJHL grounds to suspend the forward indefinitely.

The suspension marks the ninth time L’Heureux has been suspended since entering the league in the 2019-20 season. He was most recently disciplined for a staged fight with Cape Breton Eagles forward Conor Shortall on January 8th, where both players received a three-game ban.

The forward has made a name for playing with an edge on the ice and getting under the skin of his opponents but took the antics off the ice, drawing the ire of the league, forcing them to issue the suspension.

The disciplinary committee for the QMJHL will review the incident through the weekend to determine the proper length of the suspension and could span through the remainder of the regular season.
